Masons Dedicate Room At Milton Hospital

In a brief ceremony, members of the Milton Lodge of Masons, A.F. & A.M., recently gathered at Milton Hospital to dedicate a patient room which has been totally renovated and redecorated through their gift.  The donation was presented from the George H. Dickey Memorial Fund of the Lodge.

Present at the dedication was Milton Hospital President Anne E. Coghlan, Executive Director Linwood W. Galeucia, and John T. Crosby, Master of the Lodge.  Accompanying Crosby were fellow Masons William A. Creighton, secretary, Robert H. Turner, Past Master of the Milton Lodge.

The Masonic gift was received with the specific intention that it be used to directly benefit patients at Milton Hospital.  With that in mind, a three bed room was selected for renovation and construction was begun.

Cosby expressed the hope that the Mason's gift would stimulate other fraternal organization to similarly support the work of Milton Hospital.  The George H. Dickey Fund was established specifically for the purpose of making gifts which would benefit the community as a whole, and not necessarily Masons themselves.

Milton Lodge Charity then and now. Some 28 years ago Milton Lodge donated funds to totally renovate and redecorate a patient room at Milton Hospital, as recognized by this article in the Milton Record newspaper. And the beat goes on. In 2008 Milton Lodge donated checks in the amount of $275.00 to all of the charities and worthy causes that we have supported over the past several years…in honor of the 275th Anniversary of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts that we celebrate this year. This one time gesture totaled over $5,000.
