Milton Lodge History

Milton Lodge of Masons was founded in 1922, a "daughter" of Macedonian Lodge which also met in Milton. Both Lodges met at the Milton Masonic Building on Adams Street in Milton Lower Mills. Milton Lodge, as it does today, encourages and draws most of its membership from the Town of Milton, Massachusetts. The Lodge also focuses it s charitable giving to worthwhile cause in Milton. Both Lodges shared ownership of the building and its uses were governed by a Board of Trustees. The Lodge also focuses its charitable giving to worthwhile causes in Milton. Both Lodges shared ownership of the building and its uses were governed by a Board of Trustees. In the early 1980's the Trustees, after a careful engineering inspection of the building, came to the conclusion that to perform necessary repairs and modernization would coast far more that would be prudent for a group of fraternal organizations. In addition to the Masonic Lodges, Milton's Guy A. Ham Chapter of the Eastern Star. Milton Chapter of DeMolay and Milton Assembly of Rainbow Girls also met in the building and relocated Milton Lodge in a different building. |

Milton Lodge's first home in the Milton Masonic Building located on Adams Street in Milton Lower Mills as it appeared in 1912. A landmark clock stood on the sidewalk in front of the building. |
A short while later Milton Lodge moved to a building at the corner of Elliot Street and Blue Hills Parkway formerly the Mattapan Baptist Church. Unfortunately this location presented a number of problems and the Lodge moved again to the Town of Braintree, meeting in the relatively new Braintree Masonic Building. And then, to the Quincy Masonic Building on Hancock Street where the Lodge meets today. coincidentally, Macedonian Lodge also meets in the Quincy building.
